This staircase was designed by a retired architect and developed into an open tread continuous quarter landing two storey feature, made from carefully selected through and through European Oak. The striking architectural feature involved running a continuous 95mm x 95mm newel in the same vertical plane from the ground to second floor

There was no wall plaster and therefore virtually no tolerance in fitting. As with most of our staircase manufacture, handrails and strings were bodily let into newels by 15mm so that any shrinkage at butt end of joint occurred within the newel. All of the treads had carefully matched hand fitted and glued make-up pieces, as the treads were over 300mm wide.

Paddy designed and installed hot dipped galvanized sections sourced from a local blacksmith that allowed for some large spanning and rigidity at joint planes where angle of stair changed. The architect expertly designed the lighting for the staircase with a stunning end result.
