Our clients on this commission required a top quality traditionally scaled entrance door to complement their home, a former Gatehouse. Following the Initial survey of the opening and positioning of  adjacent window, we specifically noted the lines of horizontal rails and configuration of glazing panels, so the elevation details corresponded to each other as a whole, therefore, greatly enhancing the enjoyment of the building. A design based on Victorian detailing with projecting bolection moulds and scaled rectangular symmetry was adopted.

A balancing pair of handmade stained glass panels with the emblem of the Yorkshire Rose, East Yorkshire style were encapsulated between double glazed panels for thermal efficiency. The door was 57mm thick to accommodate traditional moulds and to allow for the double glazing. The door and frame were constructed from Utile – which is very knock resistant and durable when appropriately protected and installed. To improve the weather tightness at ground level a high exposure rating aluminium threshold was fitted. Ironmongery by Frank Allart and locks by Guardian(British companies) along with Farrow and Ball paint were chosen by our clients creating a stunning finish.
