Understanding key concepts behind any design rationale involves understanding the client’s requirements, whilst taking into account the physical constraints and statutory controls that make every bespoke joinery commission unique.

Design and Craftsmanship

Paddy has a wealth of experience in architectural joinery design and manufacturing. This, coupled with careful detailing and passion for the best outcome for each individual project is at the core of the company’s ethos. Understanding, for example, how window design has evolved, along with section profiles from the 1670’s to 1900’s, coupled with local research, should enable sympathetic restoration or replacement of windows and doors etc.

Detailed working drawings form part of our service, if required. Much of our heritage work involves replicating historic moulds and section detailing. The opportunity for window replacements to be reinstated with historical detailing, including the sensitive incorporation of thin, highly thermal efficient krypton double glazed units, can be a viable option if appropriate in the setting. Glazing options may include handmade outer panes with a struck putty finish.

Finishes and Ironmongery

As part of our bespoke service, we offer initial advice on the long term effectiveness of a variety of paints and finishes, with reference to historical palettes. We can also advise on the pros and cons of various paint products if required, and can assist with the selection of appropriate ironmongery in relation to type, quality and security benefits if relevant. Detailed designs of architectural metalwork can also be produced.

We have the capability to manufacture a wide range of heritage, listed and conservation joinery. The following list is by no means exhaustive.

  • Boxed sliding sash windows
  • Yorkshire sliding sash windows
  • Mullioned and casement windows
  • Fitted Furniture
  • Entrance doors
